How to Install up to 128 Skins Per Vehicle
First you will need to have the official game patch installed
If you need the Game Patch click the link ‘1nsane patch 2’
Now go to your codemasters\Insane\data\vehicles folder
then create a new folder in there with the same name as the vehicle idf name
Remember Every vehicle must have it’s own folder
Example #1 – To add more skins for the Baja.idf
you will need to create a folder called – baja – [ forget the .idf ]in your – insane\data\vehicles
Now you have – insane\data\vehicles\baja – In that folder you put sets of 3 image files
with your or downloaded unique file names as below
—- stands for Your skin name
—-EXT.png = main skin / —-CHR.png = damage / —-INT.png = interior
[ for other vehicles just make a new folder ]
Example #2 – To add more skins for the Hillclimber you will need a folder called wall
you should now have codemasters\insane\data\vehicles\wall
Then you copy the blabla.png files you wish to add for the Hillclimber into this new folder.
Example #3 – To add more skins for the Utility create a folder called pico
So you now have codemasters\insane\data\vehicles\pico
Then you copy the blabla.png files you wish to add for the Utility into this new folder.
—- INT – interior (cockpit) texture
( You must have an INT file for each skin )
If you are using a skin but your opponents do not have the latest patch 2
They will only see a set of wheels nothing else.
If they have the latest patch but no vehicle folder set up for that vehicle
By default they will see their slot 1 skin which ever extra skin you use.
If they have the patch and the folder set up they will see the skin they have in their folder.
The skin’s come up in the order of file size or by date
The skin you see will most likely be different to the skin they see in that position
